Our generation was born after the Second World War which our parents had lived through, and is called "the mass generation", meaning baby boomers. This generation of ours grew out of the defeated nation of Japan and our growing up coincided with the reconstruction followed by the economic advancement. We have experienced the process where Japan, having started from the state of ashes after her surrender, has developed into the present economic power ---- overflowing materially. Now we find ourselves in the 21st Century, what is called the times of spirit rather than matter. We have begun to realize the fact that many important things are lost in exchange for material abundance. We seem to be standing transfixed by the bottomless dark we hold deep in our heart gloomily. When we think about what has put us in such a situation, human "desire" is found there expanding boundlessly. We ought to shake ourselves free from such a desire which grows, knowing no bounds, and aim at purifying and regenerating our souls. Thereby arise hopes for the future, I believe. My work was produced with such thoughts as a theme.

"Resistance" CODA / Apeldoorns Museum
The pieces in animal shape represent our "desire" running recklessly. Those in human shape try to resist and subdue it and blue was used to this effect.

"A Soul Starting on a Journey" Museum Rijswijk
This work suggests that the souls are purified and saved from the animals in which our desire is embodied.

"A Message to the Small" Museum Rijswijk
This work entrusts the generations coming after ours with the regeneration of their hearts and pins hopes on them. It has an animal's head representing the remains of our "desire" and a leaf symbolic of "regeneration" in its hands.
